Dr. Alan Schonfeld

Dr. Alan Schonfeld, currently works part-time and, of all the staff members, has had the longest association with Gwynedd Veterinary Hospital. Graduating from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1970, and moving to Lansdale from New York in 1973, he is, along with a former classmate, one of the founders of GVH, which he owned and operated until 1995.

Dr. Schonfeld has two grown children, a son and a daughter, with whom he is very close.

He lives a quiet life in his home, surrounded by woods and fields, where he enjoys creating artwork, appreciating nature, gardening, and spiritual pursuits. He shares his home with his long time companion and he has several cats.

His philosophy concerning Veterinary Medicine is to view each patient as if he were making medical decisions regarding one of his own pets and, to combine the skills of diagnosis with clear and compassionate communication. Many long-time Gwynedd Veterinary Hospital clients continue to count on Dr. Schonfeld.
